The Tenth Annual Artist's Showcase: Orange City Arts’ Regional Exhibition

A CALL FOR ENTRIES

Exhibit: April 4-30, 2022

Submission Deadline: March 22, 2022

Enter up to 3 original submissions, 2D or 3D. Open to artists college-age & up from IA or 350-mile radius of Orange City. No entry fee. Work must be no older than 3 years. Submission details & timeline are below. Awards will be given for Best of Show ($150) & Honorable Mention ($75).

THE EXHIBITION

The Tenth Annual Artist's Showcase: Orange City Arts’ Regional Exhibition offers an opportunity for artists to exhibit their work April 4-30, 2022 at the Northwestern College DeWitt Theatre Arts Center in Orange City IA. Regional artists (from Iowa or within a 350-mile radius of Orange City, IA) are invited to submit work to the juried exhibition. The exhibition will also be available to view and purchase online at orangecityarts.net.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE

March 22, 2022, by midnight CST

VENUE

DeWitt Theatre Arts Center, Northwestern College, 809 Albany Ave. SE, Orange City IA 51041

ELIGIBILITY & MEDIA

This exhibit is open to any artist, college-age and up, from Iowa or within a 350-mile radius of Orange City, Iowa. Artwork must be original in concept, composition, and execution, and must have been created in the past three years. Artwork may not have been shown previously in an Orange City Arts exhibit. All 2-D and 3-D media will be considered and must be ready to hang/present. Sawtooth hangers are not allowed. If you have work that you feel needs not to be framed, please email Emie Andrulewich info@orangecityarts.net  to request approval. **Any selected piece that arrives at the venue without proper hanging hardware will not be displayed in the exhibition.**

THEME OF EXHIBITION

No theme is required and all submissions are welcome.

INSURANCE

Orange City Arts will exercise all reasonable care in handling and hanging the art and does have limited insurance coverage. However, Orange City Arts assumes no responsibility for damage or loss to works submitted. Insurance is the responsibility of the exhibiting artist.

AGREEMENT

Works accepted for exhibition may not be withdrawn prior to the close of the show (9:30 pm, April 30th). Orange City Arts reserves the right to install the works in any manner deemed necessary for exhibition or security purposes.

SALES & REPRODUCTION

Orange City Arts will finalize any sales of exhibited artwork at a price that is set by the artist. Sales are subject to a 20% commission, so prices should be set accordingly. Works not for sale must be clearly marked "NFS." The Exhibition will also be available to view and purchase online.

The submission of entries presupposes that the right is granted to photograph accepted works for education and publicity purposes. The Artist shall be acknowledged as the creator and copyright owner of the Artwork. Otherwise, taking photos of the artwork during the exhibit is prohibited. The Artist reserves all copyrights to the reproduction of the Artwork except as agreed to in writing. 

CATALOG

The exhibition Sponsor requires a high-quality image of the Artwork to be included in the catalog to arrive by March 28, 2022. Failure to arrive by this date relieves any obligation of the Exhibition Sponsor to include images of the Artwork in the catalog or any other material.

PROMOTION

The Exhibition Sponsor shall use its best efforts to promote and display the Artwork in an appropriate and professional manner. The Exhibition Sponsor shall clearly identify the Artist’s name with all Artwork and shall include the Artist’s name on all publicity images and text for any Artwork exhibited.

ENTRY PROCEDURES

Entrants are limited to three entries. Sets, e.g., diptych, may be classified as one entry.

There is no entry fee.

We request digital images only. Submissions for jurying must be quality jpg, gif, png or pdf images – 200 dpi and no larger than 4 MB.

Submit images online via the "Upload Artwork" button on the menu above.

The image must be a true representation of the work submitted. Orange City Arts reserves the right to reject work accepted which does not conform to the quality represented by the submission.

With each submission, also include the artist's name, address, email, phone number, and title of work. Under "Description," include medium, size, and date of completion.

A COMPLETED ENTRY CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING:

1. jpg, png, gif or pdf image.

2. Artist's name, address, email, phone number, & title of work.

3. Under "Description," include medium, size, date of production, & purchase price or NFS.

SUBMIT ENTRY MATERIALS online.

If you have trouble submitting online, please email info@orangecityarts.net. Include jpg, gif, png or pdf attachments of each entry, filenames formatted: "Artist Last Name - Title of Piece." Include medium, size, date of completion, & purchase price in the body of the email, along with contact info for the artist.

NOTIFICATION

Artists will be notified of acceptance by email by March 26, 2022. Further details on delivery and pick up of accepted artwork will also be given at that time. We will not be accepting or returning artwork through any shipping method.

LABELING THE ART

Art accepted for the show is to be labeled on a 3x5-inch paper on the upper left corner, the backside of the artwork. Include the name of the artist, the title of work, media, and sale price or NFS. If your work is a diptych or triptych, please note whether the pieces are to be displayed horizontally or vertically.

THE VENUE: DEWITT THEATRE ARTS CENTER

The exhibition will be displayed in Northwestern College's DeWitt Theatre Arts Center, a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art performance facility on campus in Orange City, IA. The exhibition will coincide with the production of The Cherry Orchard by the award-winning Northwestern Theatre Department. The closing reception will be held immediately prior to the final performance

RECEPTION

The closing reception will be held Saturday, April 30th from 6:00-7:00 p.m., prior to the final performance of The Cherry Orchard. All artists are invited to attend. Jurors will comment and announce awards.

JURORS' CHOICES & PRIZES

Jurors will select a "Best of Show" with a $150 cash prize and two "Honorable Mention" $75 cash prizes, to be announced and awarded at the closing reception on April 30th. Winning artists will also be given two complimentary tickets to the Northwestern College Theatre Department production of The Cherry Orchard  April 22-30th. Winners must contact Emie Andrulewich at info@orangecityarts.net to reserve tickets for specific showtime.
